This prestigious, industry-backed national technology accelerator programme exclusively supports Scottish SMEs at the forefront of offshore renewables innovation.

Launch Academy Scotland provides a platform for companies to tackle key challenges in the offshore wind sector, accelerate their technology development, and bring transformative solutions to market. This first-of-its-kind programme in Scotland is backed by leading industry sponsors, including BlueFloat Energy | Nadara Partnership, Ocean Winds, Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and South of Scotland Enterprise.

What Is WindSafe™?
WindSafe™ is a comprehensive, cloud-based, data-driven solution that empowers offshore wind operators and contractors to collaborate safely and efficiently. It automates and streamlines critical workflows related to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), Quality Assurance, and Risk Management. Equipped with an AI-powered safety observation tool, WindSafe™ enhances visibility into risks, facilitates rapid response, and drives a proactive safety culture across the entire lifecycle of offshore wind projects.
Designed specifically for the offshore wind sector, WindSafe™ integrates Fennex’s proven, award-winning technology. Its development has been shaped by extensive market research in collaboration with Strathclyde University and Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group, alongside insights from industry engagement with wind developers and key contractors.
WindSafe™ addresses a clear need for a streamlined, specialised HSE data management system, enabling the offshore wind sector to reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen safety performance.
A Competitive Path to Success
Securing a place in this cohort was no easy feat. Each company had to pitch their technology solutions to a panel of industry leaders, showcasing how their innovations align with the goals of the offshore wind sector. For Fennex, this was a chance to demonstrate how WindSafe™ could de-risk operations, reduce costs, and enable scalable deployment for offshore wind projects.
Nassima Brown and Aspen Kissinger represented Fennex during the programme’s kickoff days, where they gained invaluable insights from industry sponsors, connected with other pioneering Scottish companies, and explored ORE Catapult’s Floating Offshore Wind Innovation Centre. These early discussions have provided a unique springboard for advancing WindSafe™’s development and tailoring it to the needs of the Scottish offshore wind market.
Building on Launch Academy’s Success
Since its inception in 2020, Launch Academy has supported 57 companies through its national and regional programmes across the UK. These businesses have collectively raised over £26.7 million in private investment, £8.4 million in grant funding, and filed 150 patents—demonstrating the programme’s power to unlock potential and accelerate commercialisation.
Over the next seven months, Fennex will benefit from industry-focused technology development and business mentoring as part of this cohort. We look forward to engaging with other innovative Scottish SMEs, collaborating with sponsors, and refining WindSafe™ to meet the unique demands of the offshore wind industry.
