FENNEX today confirmed its ongoing technology partnership with Dolphin Drilling, with its AI-powered Behaviour-Based Safety Solution (BBSS™) deployed across the Paul B. Loyd Jr. and Blackford Dolphin since 2025, and plans underway to extend the platform to the Borgland Dolphin.
Since deployment, more than 10,000 safety observations have been submitted through FENNEX BBSS™ across Dolphin Drilling's fleet, with participation from over 40 contractor organisations. 98% of unsafe conditions have been closed out, 73% within seven days, and HSE personnel are saving an estimated 1,000+ hours annually through reduced administrative burden.
The partnership comes as Dolphin Drilling continues to expand its UK presence, following the confirmed firm contract fixture for the Borgland Dolphin on 2 June 2026. Building on the results already delivered across the Paul B. Loyd Jr. and Blackford Dolphin, Fennex will extend BBSS™ to the Borgland Dolphin, bringing the same real-time safety observation reporting, leading-indicator visibility and follow-through capability already in place across the fleet. This will support consistent safety management and stronger operational oversight as the asset moves into its next contract.
Graeme Christie, VP HSEEQ at Dolphin Drilling, said:
"We already had a strong safety culture. What Fennex BBSS™ gave us was the visibility and follow-through to back it up. Our teams now know what to focus on because they can see it directly from the data, and that's made all the difference."
Nassima Brown, Strategy Director at FENNEX, said:
"Our partnership with Dolphin Drilling reflects a shared commitment to strengthening safety performance through practical, operationally focused digital technology. By providing real-time visibility of leading indicators, BBSS™ helps offshore teams identify trends earlier, close out issues faster and strengthen safety culture through meaningful workforce engagement. We're delighted to continue supporting Dolphin Drilling as it extends the platform to the Borgland Dolphin and continues its broader digital transformation journey across its wider safety and assurance activities."
